Miami Heat Stun Celtics in Playoff Opener

Heat Hit Record-Setting 3-Pointers to Even Series

The Miami Heat have pulled off the first major upset of the 2024 NBA playoffs, defeating the top-seeded Boston Celtics 118-107 in Game 1 of their Eastern Conference semifinals series. The Heat hit a franchise-record 23 3-pointers in the victory, tying the record for the most 3-pointers ever made by a team in a playoff game.

Jimmy Butler led the way for the Heat with 29 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists. Bam Adebayo added 21 points and 12 rebounds, while Kyle Lowery contributed 18 points and 9 assists. Tyler Herro also hit six 3-pointers off the bench, finishing with 16 points.

The Celtics, who had the NBA's best record during the regular season, were led by Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, who each scored 22 points. However, the Heat's defense held the Celtics to just 33% shooting from the field, including 25% from 3-point range.

The Celtics will look to bounce back in Game 2 of the series on Thursday night in Boston. The Heat will be looking to take a commanding 2-0 lead in the series before heading back to Miami.
