The Boston Celtics took Game 1 of the 2024 NBA Finals with a 107-89 victory over the Dallas Mavericks on June 6, 2024. Kristaps Porzingis returned from a calf injury and dropped 20 points, including 18 in the first half, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Celtics' balanced attack.

Jayson Tatum led the way for Boston with 24 points, while Jaylen Brown added 23 and Marcus Smart contributed 18. The Celtics shot 51.4% from the field and held the Mavericks to just 41.6% shooting.

The Mavericks were led by Luka Doncic's 20 points, but the rest of the team struggled to find their rhythm. Spencer Dinwiddie added 15 points, but shot just 5-of-14 from the field. Tim Hardaway Jr. and Dorian Finney-Smith each finished with 12 points.

The Celtics took control of the game in the second quarter, outscoring the Mavericks 30-17 to take a 55-36 lead at the half. The Mavericks never recovered, and the Celtics cruised to a 107-89 victory.

Game 2 of the series will be played in Boston on June 8, 2024.
